China Property: There are some remarkable patterns in the data on China's housing markets.

Here (chart below) is an example of how the monthly 12M y/y growth rates for new starts and new home sales have followed similar paths. Over the past 14 years, sales (in orange) have tended to lead the new starts (in grey), but in the last 2 years, the movements have been very much in sync on a monthly basis.
