The chart below - on new starts vs new home sales:
 
-In 2022, the absolute levels of new starts dropped more (to the 2009 level) than new home sales (to the 2015 level)

-Focus on the completion of stalled projects remains a policy priority

-Data caveat: watch out for the definition of ‘new starts’ – it often confuses and can be misinterpreted, with the data indicating much more construction than takes place in reality
