On March 7, Robert Ciemniak, the Founder-CEO of Real Estate Foresight, chaired the first day of the 11th PERE Asia Summit in Hong Kong. 500 attendees from around 30 countries over two days. How interesting that the technology impact on real estate gets more and more prominent in the discussions at such key industry events – now also in Asia.
But it didn’t mean everyone was all crazy about it. A quick show-of-hands poll suggested people saw the technology impact as a ‘natural progress’, not as a disruption (not a fad either). All the innovation around the use of space still requires the physical space. Big hopes for big data but investment decisions in real estate still mainly a gut feel play plus other qualitative factors… Or is it about to change?
